I photographed this male American Kestrel in a Florida Wildlife Rescue Center. These centers are great for doing photos of animals and birds that may often be too far away to get closeup photos. This bird is migratory from southern regions to northern US and Canada. I wanted to render the bird in snow so added it when doing the sketches. I like to experiment with new surfaces so this one is on a black Multimedia Pastel Panel. It could be done on any other black surface that accepts colored pencil.
This is an intermediate level project done on 9"x12" black Pastel Panel using Prismacolor Premier colored pencils.
