I photographed this gorgeous barn owl at the Charlotte Raptor Center. She was kind enough to stretch her wings for me and the variety of feather colors just fascinated me. I decided this owl would be a good match for tan colored suede board allowing the color of the surface to become part of the painting.
This is an intermediate/advanced level project on 9"x14" Crescent Thicket Tan suede mat board using Prismacolor Premier colored pencils.
