This double ruffled hollyhock grew by the door of my Ohio studio. Late in the summer the bugs would dine on the leaves which gave the leaves a lacy look. I suggest not getting too intent on repeating the detail exactly and do what looks natural to you. The texture of the leaves is done with many little irregular circles and the holes are just fun shapes to create.
This is an intermediate project created on white Multimedia ArtBoard or another watercolor surface using Derwent Watercolor Pencils.
